Dr. Freddy Hill was born on November 20th, 1952, in Waynesboro, Georgia. His oratorical gifts, talents, and quest for knowledge were recognized at an early age as he excelled in school and made his mark in sports and musical endeavors. Dr. Hill, known as "Fred-lee" to friends and family, relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1970. Although "Up North," he never forgot his Southern roots and spiritual upbringing. Dr. Hill began his ministry in 1974. Under the tutelage of the late Pastor Marion Williams and the direction of the Holy Spirit, he became the Senior Pastor of Dixmoor Apostolic House of Prayer on June 18th, 1984; where he has faithfully served for thirty-five years.
During this time, he has not only expanded the physical building, established a successful teaching ministry throughout the Christian community and greater Chicago area, and supported community outreach through a food pantry; but has nurtured, launched, and mentored many pastors and ministers throughout the state. Dr. Hill has received degrees and certificates from Northeastern Illinois University (Bachelors & Masters of Arts) McCormick Theological Seminary (Masters of Arts in Theological Studies), Meadville Lombard Theological School (Doctorate in Religious Education), The Institute for Spiritual Leadership (Certificate in Advanced Studies in Spirituality and Spiritual Direction)
Dr. Hill is a member of the Society for Pentecostal Studies and is also a former adjunct professor at Indiana Wesleyan University teaching in the disciplines of Criminal Justice, Social Science, and Biblical Studies. He serves as the Chaplin for the village of Dixmoor and is currently the director and founder of the Marion Williams Bible Institute. Dr. Hill is known throughout Illinois as the visionary of the "second chance diploma program," which has allowed hundreds of adult learners to obtain a high school diploma.
Dr. Hill has developed a teaching ministry called "Transformed From Within Ministries," which focuses on empowerment and transformation of the individual. His motto is "Education is our Liberation."As an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc., Dr. Hill now serves as Suffragan Bishop emeritus of the Illinois District Council. Bishop Hill has received numerous awards and certificates and his teaching and preaching has been featured in leadership workshops in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Ghana, as well as Christian television in Pakistan. He loves mentoring and training pastors and ministry leaders and is known as a "Pastor's Pastor." He is loved and honored by his children, grandchildren, and lovely wife and ministry partner, Dr. Roslyn T. Hill.
